The Antioch Public Library is located on Lake Street in downtown Antioch. The library began as a project of the Antioch Women's Club in 1921 and in 1922 the 
library was moved into the Village Hall Building. During a scarlet fever epidemic in Antioch in the 1920's, all the books at the library had to be destroyed. But in 1924 the Village of Antioch took over the library from the Women's Club and the library began to grow. The library moved from the jail house to the school on Main Street, then to an upstairs room on Main Street, then to a house on Main Street until finally in the 1970's a building was constructed and the library finally had it's own home.
