Judge jails 172 homeowners in California

A judge in California used a little known law to jail 172 homeowners that had fallen into foreclosure. He ruled that because the homeowners had abandoned their property, they were in violation of the law and sentenced them to prison sentences.

$4.6 Million in Economic Stimulus Funds to Rehabilitate Lake County Neighborhoods
Lake County neighborhoods that have experienced a high number of foreclosures are in line to receive new federal grant dollars. The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development presented the County with a check for $4.6 million at a special event. The money will be used to purchase and rehabilitate abandoned and foreclosed homes and residential properties to re-sell or rent to individuals and families that qualify based on income.
